By Hayley Wielgus, KYTX in Tyler, Texas

East Texas has its first local, Spanish language television newscast. It's a product of KYTX and it's sister station Azteca America.
Azteca America is operating in more than 60 markets across the country and is one of the fastest-growing Hispanic networks in the world.
It's been available in East Texas since the beginning of the year and launched its first local newscast Monday.
An estimated 15 percent of the East Texas population is Hispanic and it's a community that's growing. The Azteca America cable channel is broadcasting a variety of programs including novelas, sports, entertainment and now a local newscast at 5 p.m.

KYTX CBS 19 News Director Dan Delgado said the newscast will focus on issues and events that affect many East Texas Hispanics.
"They can not only know what's going on in their backyards in East Texas, but they know what's going on back home where many of their families still live," Delgado said.
"The culture is portrayed in the TV in Mexico and here, so it's very important to reflect that story and heritage in the images," Azteca America Anchor Orlando Rodriguez said.
The Azteca America affiliate is operated by KYTX.  Delgado said he expects the network, and newscast, to become competitive in the East Texas market.
