Local home-based radio station gets fined by FCC

The FCC has proposed a $21,000 fine on Consolidated Radio Inc. for main studio, power level, and public file violations at Spanish Religion KVOZ-A (Radio Cristiana Del Mar Hills/Laredo, TX.  The licensee has also been ordered to submit a statement signed under penalty of perjury that it is complying with the rules.

A Commission agent noted that the station failed to power down after sunset on July 27th and 28, 2010, and an inspection attempt found that the main studio could not be found and the public file, incomplete, was located at a private home in Laredo,Tx.; a technician said that the station had not been maintaining its main studio and was running at 3,000 watts daytime and nighttime due to transmitter problems.

  3. A friend suggested setting up a community radio station, powered with volunteers and community donations. It'd be cool but a lot of work.

  5. I think that would be great. We need more eyes and ears on the politicians. I just blogged that our great city council maybe looking to add a new convention center to the sports venue tax....go figure.
